Introduction - a beginning section which states the purpose and goals of the following writings. (1-2 paragraph)

Chapter 1  (Feb. 20, 2015)  
Background of the Study - is the part of any research where in the particular topic is placed. This may contain the general description, and may include the broader description of the topic. Other include a brief preview of the topic to discuss. important details; Information about establishment, System description and Discuss the manual process of the system.
Statement of the Problem - is a concise description of the issues that need to be addressed by a problem solving team and should be presented to them (or created by them) before they try to solve the problem. When bringing together a team to achieve a particular purpose provide them with a problem statement. A good problem statement should answer these questions:

What is the problem? This should explain why the team is needed.
Who has the problem or who is the client/customer? This should explain who needs the solution and who will decide the problem has been solved.
What form can the resolution be?

Scope and limitation - The "scope" section is where you list what you are doing. The "bounds" section is where you set the boundaries and you list some thing explicitly that you are not doing because they are outside the bounds of the project. and Limitations are the limits or things you did not investigate, or the reasons why your conclusions may not be valid. include also the functionality and capabilities of the computerize system.

Chapter 2 (Feb. 20, 2015)

Gantt Chart - A Gantt chart is a graphical representation of the duration of tasks against the progression of time. A Gantt chart is a useful tool for planning and scheduling projects. A Gantt chart is helpful when monitoring a project's progress. A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal elements and summary elements of a project. see sample Gantt Chart here...
Program Flowchart - is a type of diagram that represents an algorithm or process, showing the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by connecting these with arrows. This diagrammatic representation can give a step-by-step solution to a given problem. Process operations are represented in these boxes, and arrows connecting them represent flow of control. Data flows are not typically represented in a flowchart, in contrast with data flow diagrams; rather, they are implied by the sequencing of operations. Flowcharts are used in analyzing, designing, documenting or managing a process or program in various fields. Basic Program flowchart symbol below.

Chapter 1

Background of the Study

Information and Communication Technology has changed the way of life. It is inevitable in the learning process of students. Attached to it is the understanding of the world’s advancement that makes a man choose to conform to change or be left behind. That’s why industries and institutions, especially schools, keep up with the ICT innovations.

It was in 2008 that a branch of the Datamex Institute of Computer Technology was established in Tacloban City. DICT holds two departments: the Information Technology (IT) and Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) departments. The Datamex Institute of Computer Technology of Tacloban has increased in student’s population and at the same time, the workload of the registrar including the students’ grades to be processed has also increased. For seven (7) years, the institution follow the traditional procedure of releasing grades that students go directly to the registrar to inquire of their progress. To date, the school has 400 number of students with realities that most are working students and do not have an ample time to stay around. With these, the old method of acquiring grades is inconvenient.

The grade of a student is a very significant part in his/her education. It is the product of school efforts. It reflects and measures the performance of a student and determines whether he/she passes the subject or not. Thus, students’ grades must be accurately calculated, stored in a database and must be willingly distributed to the students. Knowing the grades at the end of every semester is an important part to every student. Having complete access to their academic progress is powerful tool.
This DICT Computerized Grade Inquiry System is a process whereby the IT Department Head or the Admin-in-charge of the Computer Laboratory inputs the grade of the IT students enrolled following a protocol that the subjects and grades must come from the registrar first since one of the foremost responsibilities of the registrar is to keep the student’s grade data for their records and purposes.

The head of the IT Department may now easily encode the data to the system and give standing records to their students without consuming a lot of time and gives convenient kind of servicing to the student. The student’s record of grade will now be available for them in any time within the computer laboratory daily operations.

The system will also determine if a particular student passed or fail the subject and a printable copy of grades will be available.

Statement of the Problem

• Is Manual Grades Inquiry much easier than the DICT Computerized Grades Inquiry System?
• Does the Manual Inquiry System make the task easier and consuming lesser time than the Computerized Grades Inquiry System?
• Will Manual Inquiry System much easy to use than Computerized Grades Inquiry System?

This is to propose our topic on how to lessen the tasks of the Registrar Office and students.
Specific Objective
1) To enhance the process of viewing the grades of the students
2) To make a program that will be beneficial to anyone
3) To change the traditional system to a more modernized system
4) To reduce the volume of time the students will fall in line
5) To secure a copy of the grades of the students

Scope and limitation

This will help the IT department head and students in checking their grades. For the IT Department Head, they can just log in and edit, add academic records/ grades. For the students, they can just go directly to the computer laboratory, start logging in and proceed looking their grades.

The DICT Computerized Grade Inquiry System does not require any images of the students, teachers or the IT Department Head. It cannot determine who passed or failed in a particular semester, has no network capabilities; this is not an online program. It will be installed in a stand-alone computer and the least you can do is to log in using the unique ID and password and there, the grades will be viewed unlike other system that you have to do so many steps before you can view your respective grades. Another, DICT Computerized Grades Inquiry doesn’t have an SMS technology. It also cannot determine who is a leading student.

Introduction
A school is an establishment that provides students information basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting of a manual inputting, manual registration and enrollment of students including the names, students number and other information to be specified, has largely been replaced by system with modern way and strategy, including computerized system and more easy and less effort. Due to the enormous increase of students here in Tacloban, during the last decades of the 20th century, standards, especially those of smaller establishments, have improved considerably. Schools are independently assessed in traditional systems and these rely heavily on the facilities provided. Today, most of the Schools provide good service using computer system. It helps to perform task in an easy way with less time consumed.
Some schools are become fully automated while others strive for the similar setting. Computer programmers develop things like computer system that the rest of us could use. The computer programmers tell the users what to do. They make programs that users can easily use or understand. The advent of new technology gave rise to easy and hassle free interaction between and among humans. Whether it is in business, science or whatever task a person takes on the quality and speed of carrying it out are enhanced with automation at the core of this efficient today, many systems have used an automation process like using computer system, due to the efficient and accuracy. “Students Information System” is a transaction processing system. In this system there are more advantages rather than a manual way of students’ information system.
Computer has become a way of life in this modern age, it is evident that a majority of the country’s institution still do not adapt the high-technology. Particularly in most public schools, their daily transactions are still done on paper. We all knew that some of the schools nowadays are more reliable in the technologies to lessen their works and make it more fast and efficient. We are looking forward to develop a web–based application that will minimize all paper works and to keep the files of the students and at the same time the important papers of the school-- a system that fully automated, user-friendly, time effective and efficient.


Background of the Study
The proponents want to know the reasons of DATAMEX School in using manual way of identifying all the students’ information in the school. The proponents conduct a study towards the topic because they notice that the school still use manual way. The study will emphasize the effects of using manual knowing of information and how a computerized information system will be substituted. Therefore, the proponents purported to find out how to use and accommodate student’s using computerized system. Interaction and individual stimulation have always been linked to the technological availability of the time and place. With the transition to an information-based society, computers and transactions have evolved from manual transaction. One of the solutions or alternatives to the problems that the school is facing, a system was being developed which can edit, delete, filter, monitor and store and secured the records of the students .Student’s Information System is a transaction processing system that solves the problem encountered during the manual way of inputting student’s information records. The computerized Student’s Information System aims to simplify the manual student’s information records fastest and accurate. The proponents make use of some tools and techniques to build the project. The system uses Graphical User Interface (GUI) to help the user give instruction to the computer. The system once implemented it will solve the most common problems that the registrar staffs encounter.
Students should be more conscious related to their school records/ files so that they can get a copy anytime that they want to have it. Particularly, if its necessary for a specific purpose. So, schools must rely on technologies because it can help a lot of things especially in performing their tasks efficiently
Statement of the Problem
Based on the research conducted, the proponents found out the problem of this study is: How will this system help the management and the staff to have an accurate service at the same time to monitor the records of the student’s? General Problem: The main problem of this study is the inaccurate way of manual student’s information system of the school. Specific problem: 1. Low in security 2. Time monitoring 3. Less data integrity 4. Difficulty in searching and retrieving files 5. Possible loss of records and retrieving files 6. Difficulty in finding the names of the student’s.
Objective of the Study
This study intends to develop an Student’s Information System.
General Objectives
This study aims to solve the problems encountered and to change the manual system.

Specific Objectives
1. To increase the security between the management and staff.
2. To lessen time consumption..
3. To highly integrate data.
4. To spend less time in searching and retrieving of files.
5. To create a backup of files in every successful transaction.
6. To become make easier to find the names of the student’s.
7.To computerized the records/files of the students.
8.To have a softbound copy of the records.
 9.To allow the school administrator to retrieve complete students records/files instantly.

 
SCOPE AND LIMITATION
 This study is conducted to know the reason behind the proponents on how will their purposed systems will help the School (DATAMEX). Student’s Information System is fully scalable and designed to provide extensive flexibility. Typical student’s information system software solutions currently in place and available today are technically designed to achieve only one objective function, which is to connect school management to students.
SCOPE
This study mainly focused on providing information system application using computerized system that enables school to track services and aims to provide accurate and reliable process on every transaction especially in finding students information. This study looked into a better impact of using technology today on how it affects our daily lives especially for being the students like us. With this studies it can help our beneficiaries to know the differences of using manual system to a computerized generation today, prioritize is to prove and to give them the right information.
LIMITATION
Student’s Information System is designed to manage all types of school-student problems, made directly by school management .Its powerful students information system gives you the ability to control dynamic school, distribute confidential trade information. The student’s information system will allow you to dynamically control student’s information without the need for an expensive web designer.

Title : Biometric Finger print Scanner System

Introduction

Biometric system is a system for the automated recognition of the individuals based on their biological characteristics. Among the features are the face, fingerprints, hand geometry, handwriting, iris, retinal, veins and voice. Biometric data are separate and distinct from personal information. Biometric templates cannot be reverse engineered to recreate personal information and they cannot be stolen and used to access personal information.

Using a unique physical attributes of your body to identify and verify that you are who you claim to be is the best and easiest solution in the market today. That is simple truth and power of biometrics today. Although biometrics technology has been around for many years, modern advances in this emerging technology, coupled which big reductions in cost, now make biometrics readily available and affordable to consumers, small business owner, larger corporations, and public agencies alike.


Background of Study


A fingerprint scanner system has two basic jobs; to get an image of your finger, and it needs to determine whether the pattern of ridges and valleys in this matches the pattern of ridges and valleys in pre-scanned images. Only specific characteristics which unique to every fingerprint are filtered and saved as an encrypted biometric key or mathematical representation. No image of a fingerprint is ever saved only a series of numbers (a binary code) which is used for verification. The algorithm cannot be reconverted to an image, so no one can duplicate your fingerprints.

It is important to note the easy clocking biometric time clocks do not actually collect and stores fingerprints. Instead, it saves a mathematical representation of the employee’s biometric data. When the biometric time clock scans a hand finger during a supervised enrolment process, only an encrypted mathematical representation of the fingerprint is stored. As a result, it’s virtually impossible to duplicate the original image from that mathematical representation. Additionally, if employees question cleanliness, this concern should not be dismissed. Instead, you should assure employees that the time clocks finger zone is not a hot zone for germs. In fact it will be touched far less frequently than restroom, door handles, water cooler spigots, or chairs in the break room.

Statement of the Problems

There are several ways of an electronic finger prints system that can verify somebody. Most of the system are looking for one or more of the following: what you are, what you know, and who you are?

Finger prints are much harder to fake than identity cards.
You cant guess a finger prints pattern like you can guess a password.
You cant misplace your finger print like you can misplace an access card.
You cant forget your finger print like you can forget your access card and password.


Scope:

Accurate discrimination between individuals.
Speed of operation
The ability to deal with present and future numbers of individuals.
Social acceptability; e.g. people are happy to use it.
Capable of coping with as much individual variability as possible.
Ease of use.
Secure and robust against potential attackers.
Environmental robustness.


Limitations:

Physical – some believe this technology can cause physical harm to an individual    using the methods or this instrument used are unsanitary.

Profiles/personal information – there are concerns whether our profiles/personal information was misused, tampered, or sold, by criminals, rearranging or copying the data that can be used in unauthorized ways without individual concern.
